[Malaysia - COVID-19: Tax Relief and Stimulus Measures for Individuals]

A slew of tax incentives has been announced by our honorable Prime Minister under the National Economic Recovery Plan (NERP) that is expected to provide relief to individuals, incentivising technology adoption and digitalisation amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. The highlighted measures that are outlined comprise special tax relief, tax relief on travel expenses, tax relief for fees paid to child-care centres or kindergartens and income tax exemption for gifts of gadgets. In fact, individuals and their tax service providers have to be aware of the latest legislation and the possible tax advantages arising from it apart from retaining documentary evidence to support their tax relief claims.
